Wednesday 28th June 12:00 (60 Min)

Captain Eric Melrose ‘Winkle’ Brown is quite simply a legend. A Royal Navy officer and test pilot during his life, he flew 487 different types of aircraft, more than anyone else in history, and he holds the world record for the most aircraft carrier deck take-offs and landings. During the Second World War he flew captured German, Italian, and Japanese aircraft, including new jet and rocket aircraft. After the Allied victory his fluent German saw him interviewing senior Nazi officials and participating in the liberation of Belsen - an experience that haunted him for the rest of his life. Paul Beaver, Winkle’s official biographer, will tell the extraordinary story of this extraordinary man.
