Nicholas Soames

Sir Nicholas Soames was a Member of Parliament for 36 years. He was MP for Crawley and then Mid Sussex. He served as a junior Minister at the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and from 1994-1997 he was Minister of State for the Armed Forces. Between 2003 and 2005 he served in the Shadow Cabinet as Shadow Secretary of State for Defence. He was made a Privy Counsellor in 2011 and knighted in 2014. He is a Trustee of the Amber Foundation and a member of the Court of the University of Sussex.
