WARS OF THE ROSES: HOW A BATTLE WORKED

Just how did a War of the Roses battle work? What happened? And how did the armies fight? In this event we will deconstruct two infamous battles, Towton and Bosworth, and demonstrating the techniques and violent butchery that occurred. Volunteers required (only joking!).

HEAVY METAL: SHERMAN AND GRANT

The Sherman and its forerunner were two mainstays of British and US armour in World War II. In this event, we will call upon experts to examine their history, their strengths and weaknesses, and seeing the Sherman in action. Finally, we shall be scoring them on a number of different criteria in our assessment of these iconic pieces of heavy metal. As seen on History Hit TV.

UNIFORMS: STYLE v FUNCTION

Why do soldiers look like soldiers? This session investigates the How’s and Why’s of uniform development through time. How does a uniform reflect the need for battlefield communication, the cost of manufacture and tasks expected of it? By studying Roman, Medieval and WWII soldiers, we will explore the differences between parade ground and campaign uniform through the ages and see them tested against an assault course!
