Adam Zamoyski is the author of over a dozen books on key figures and aspects of European history, among them 1812: Napoleon’s Fatal March on Moscow and its sequel Rites of Peace: The Fall of Napoleon and the Congress of Vienna. Both are Sunday Times bestsellers.
In this Thread of History talk, Adam Zamoyski will talk about the Treaty of Vienna, signed on 9 June 1815, and which aimed to be the peace to end all wars. But even as it was signed, Napoleon was amassing new armies for a final show-down and one that would end the Napoleonic Wars for good and bring peace to much of Europe for the next fifty years: the Battle of Waterloo.
