HISTORY WALK – AROUND BROAD CHALKE

History Walks, Thu 28th June 14:30 - 16:30 (120 mins)

Renowned archaeologist Bill Moffat will be leading local historical walks throughout the Festival week, blending a stroll in a beautiful part of the world with some absolutely fascinating facts and snippets from our very rich local history, from prehistory right through to recent times.

Focussing on the village itself, this tour will examine the church, various of the fine and modest houses, the water meadows and nonconformist chapels. Wild speculation will include the importance of the village in the Saxon period and the walk begins on the site of the Saxon burial ground at Bury Orchard.
