70. DINNER WITH DICKENS: RECIPES INSPIRED BY THE LIFE AND WORK OF CHARLES DICKENS

Extras (Dining Tent), Fri 29th June 15:30 - 16:30 (60 mins)

Food is a key theme in Dickens’ work. From the great feast of Christmas, celebrated in glorious style even by the impoverished Cratchits, to Oliver Twist’s gruel, food was used for sensory and dramatic effect. Food historian Pen Vogler will explain how Dickens, himself no stranger to hunger, also used food to provide crucial insights into individual character and expose social hypocrisy.
